Research

The main objective of CIPR is to establish an internationally re-known, cross-disciplinary unit in petroleum research.  The challenge is to create a research environment where results from basic research can form the basis for improving the technology, and to ensure best possible economical development of the resources on the continental shelf.

An additional goal is to support project oriented cross-disciplinary education, and to educate top qualified scientists as part of the different research programs.

In the North Sea CIPRs objective is to contribute to a improved production scenario compared to the "erosion curve" given in the figure above.

Further, CIPR wants to contribute to better understanding of production from low permeability and hetereogeneous materials, which is one of the main challenges in important oil and gas fields outside the North Sea.
